About Me

_____________________________________________________

In Short:

I am a bilingual writer and editor with over a dozen published novels in Bangla and several short stories, articles, and blogs written in English. I also edit a bilingual triannual literary magazine published from Toronto.
Little more details:

Born in Khulna, Bangladesh, I had a very eventful childhood. My father the late Dr. Abdur Rasheed was an army doctor who along with his family became  a prisoner of war during the independence war of Bangladesh against West Pakistan. I returned to independent Bangladesh in 1971 with my parents.

I completed my Bachelor and Masters in Applied Physics & Electronics and came to USA for higher studies. After completion of my studies I worked and lived in various parts of USA as an IT Professional before coming to Canada. Today I live in GTA (Greater Toronto Area) with my family.

I started writing from an early age. My first novel was published in the year 1986 and was instantly a hit. I have over a dozen novels in Bangla and many short stories.

Lately, I am focusing my writing primarily in English (short stories, essays, screenplays, translations) and have received one award for a screenplay and praise for my short stories.

I have written several manuscripts in English (couple of Young Adult fictions, one women's fiction and one non-fiction based on my wartime experience as a boy) and am actively looking for literary agents and publishers.
